This image provides a clear and simple summary of 8-Ball Pool Rules, broken down into three main steps:
π± 8-Ball Rules β Summary
1. Rack the Balls
-
Use 15 object balls: Solids (1β7), Stripes (9β15), and the 8-ball (black).
-
Rack in a triangle:
-
The 1-ball goes at the apex (top point), placed on the foot spot.
-
The 8-ball must be in the center of the triangle.
-
One corner should have a solid, the other a stripe.
-
-
After a break:
-
If a ball is pocketed, that group (solids or stripes) becomes the player’s.
-
If no group is clearly determined, the table remains βopenβ until one is.
-
2. Sink All Balls in Your Group
-
Once your group (solids or stripes) is chosen:
-
You must pocket all balls in your group before attempting the 8-ball.
-
Call your shots (i.e., which ball to which pocket), especially in casual play.
-
Failing to hit your ball first or pocketing the wrong group is a foul.
-
3. Win by Sinking the 8-Ball
-
After your group is cleared, you aim for the 8-ball.
-
You must call the pocket where you intend to sink the 8-ball.
-
You lose if:
-
You pocket the 8-ball early.
-
You scratch (cue ball goes in) while pocketing the 8-ball.
-
You fail to hit the 8-ball correctly or pocket it in the wrong pocket.
-
β Common Fouls
